Space Grant Consortium
The Maryland Space Grant Consortium hosts the Balloon Payload Project.
This program engages university and college students in a science
and engineering, hands-on activity. They design and build experiment
payloads that are launched to "near-space" on weather
balloons, then the students extract the data and report the results.

The most recent launch took place on July 25, 2007 at Maryland's Eastern Shore. |
| Details: |
The SimSat mission is a complete, hands-on, NASA space mission
microcosm. During a two-week long science camp -- called "Reach
for the Stars!" -- high-altitude balloon experiments are
being offered. This unique program is conducted by NASA high
school and college student interns working with middle school
students. The camp is designed to influence students to pursue
a career in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.
